The bed was unkempt from a lazy day of nothingness.
An uneccessary amount of pillows covered the bed,
Five, to be exact.
Not to mention the body pillow she held tightly to in the night,
Dreaming it was someone she hadn’t quite met yet.
At least not that she knew of.
And would she know when she did meet him?
Would he know when he met her?
But those were questions for another morning. Not...

Jerry Brito: Top ten myths about introverts →
jerrybrito:
Myth #1 – Introverts don’t like to talk. This is not true. Introverts just don’t talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, and they won’t shut up for days.
Myth #2 – Introverts are shy. Shyness has nothing to…

And now...a poem.
So tonight at small group, i was presented with a poem by the lovely Rachel Burcham. It was my going-away gift, given to me in honor of the “poem-ness” (words of Rachel) that i had brought to our group. Dear Rachel, although i had always slightly wanted a boy to be the first one to write me a poem…i would not have this any other way ;) You are far superior to any boy, haha....
Everything is beautiful.
Right now i’m sitting on a wooden bench on my front porch watching a storm come in. I have my journal, a pencil, and the mist of rain drops against my legs. At this moment, i need nothing more. And yet i need it all.. In nine days i’ll be on a plane headed for South America & this memory will most likely only be a faint one. But i’m not in a hurry to pass this moment up....

Today I went with the Class 9 girls to a prayer meeting at a woman’s house in the village. Going into the village is one of my favorite parts of this trip. I love going out & meeting new people I never knew existed before that moment. When someone says, “We’re going to ‘so & so’s’ house for prayer”, what they really mean is ‘so &...
Travel
“There’s a level of travel that you can achieve wherein you almost cease to exist as you have been known to yourself. I don’t mean it as in a feeling of meaningless, or emptiness, but a sort of new kind of existence takes place. You become just particles in motion, closer in frequency to a ghost or something. You might think what I’m writing is crazy, and if you do, I suggest you grab a...

Love is a Road.
I came across this article today while sitting in an office waiting for another meeting. I think it is one of the most beautiful, raw, and moving poems I have read in a long time…I had to hold back tears as I read. So many thoughts came to mind as I read…. Strength. Hope. Forgiveness. Love. A Future. Identity. Worth. A Voice. New. Springing from a poetry workshop, several HIV positive...

Through Painted Deserts
“No, life cannot be understood flat on a page. It has to be lived; a person has to get out of his head, has to fall in love, has to memorize poems, has to jump off bridges into rivers, has to stand in an empty desert and whisper sonnets under his breath. It’s a living book, this life. It folds out in a million settings, cast with a billion beautiful characters, and it is almost over....

I am sitting in a comfy, overstuffed chair in front of the glass doors of Guynes’ lobby. I am blasted with chilly February air every time they are opened by passerby’s searching for an escape from this “bitter cold” Texas weather. But despite the frost that is forming on these window panes, my heart is full of warmth tonight. It is full of gratitude, love, and awe as I sit...

30 thank you notes.
Lately I haven’t been so optimistic about life. Basically, I don’t like all this change. And then I realized how absolutely wonderful my life really is & I felt stupid for being so negative. So last night when I couldn’t sleep I decided to start being thankful for some of the good things in life, instead of only noticing the things I wish were different. So here are some of...

I stumbled upon this today as I was looking for a paper I had written & it brought me so much joy that I thought I’d share. (P.S. He helped write this.)
1. He’s pretty.
2. He constantly makes sandwiches for people.
3. He can almost cry on cue.
4. He desires to be a school teacher.
5. Long. Flowing. Hair.
6. He discusses his long, flowing hair.

Railroads & Streams
For those who don’t know, I am assistant leading a missions trip to Bangladesh this summer. I don’t think I truly knew what I was signing up for when I filled out the application, but I knew that the Lord was in it. It has been so entirely overwhelming at times & I have often asked myself why on earth I willingly applied for such a responsibility. But then the Lord does something incredible in...
